Design is everywhere. It’s in the chair you’re sitting on, the phone you’re holding, and the website you’re browsing. But design is more than just functionality or aesthetics—it’s a language, a way to communicate ideas, emotions, and stories. For me, design is a bridge between creativity and life, a tool to transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.
Growing up in Guangdong, a region known for its vibrant culture and innovative spirit, I’ve always been surrounded by design in its many forms. From the intricate patterns of traditional Cantonese porcelain to the sleek, modern architecture of Shenzhen, I learned early on that design is not just about how something looks, but how it makes you feel. It’s about solving problems, sparking joy, and creating connections.
As a designer, I see my work as a way to tell stories. Whether it’s through a bold graphic, a thoughtfully edited video, or a beautifully curated Instagram post, I strive to convey a message that resonates. Every color, font, and layout is a deliberate choice, a piece of a larger puzzle that comes together to create meaning. Design, for me, is about finding harmony between form and function, beauty and purpose.
But design isn’t confined to a screen or a sketchpad—it’s a mindset. It’s about noticing the details in everyday life, from the way sunlight filters through a window to the way a well-plated dish can evoke a sense of wonder. It’s about finding inspiration in the world around us and using that inspiration to create something new.
In my work, I draw from my love of food, travel, and culture. A trip to a bustling market in Guangzhou might inspire a vibrant color palette, while a quiet afternoon in a Parisian café could lead to a minimalist layout. Design, for me, is deeply personal, a reflection of my experiences and my perspective on the world.
Ultimately, design is about connection. It’s about creating something that speaks to others, that makes them pause, think, or feel. Whether it’s a logo, a website, or a simple social media post, I believe good design has the power to inspire, to uplift, and to bring people together.
So, here’s to design—the art of turning ideas into reality, and the magic of finding beauty in the everyday. Let’s keep creating, keep exploring, and keep designing a world that’s as vibrant and meaningful as the lives we live.
